About Beit Schomer Israel

The history of the Berlin Messianic community “Beit Schomer Israel” began when Vladimir Pikman and his wife Inna came to Berlin.

Vladimir, a graduate mathematician, began to actively participate in the services of the Messianic community in Kiev (Ukraine) in 1992 as a preacher and leader of the evangelism group. God used him and his gifts to establish the Messianic communities in Lviv and Kharkiv (Ukraine). But after some time, the Almighty showed Vladimir that he should devote himself to serving His people in Germany. The Pikman family therefore emigrated from Ukraine in the spring of 1995 and came to Germany.

The ministry began with Vladimir and Inna regularly driving to Ahrensfelde on Fridays to the emigrants’ home, where more than a hundred families lived. The majority of those who arrived were Jewish emigrants from the former Soviet Union. Vladimir and Inna held Shabbat meetings in the home on Fridays. Many people gathered and God blessed the ministry abundantly. At this time they began to organize regular Saturday services in Berlin, where Vladimir preached about the greatness of God and salvation in Yeshua the Messiah (Hebrew for Jesus) and Inna served in the service with her musical gifts.

At the beginning, one of the German Christian communities made its premises available for this purpose. Up to ten people gathered in a small room. After a short time, however, the group moved to a larger room, as there were now around forty believers who met here. More and more people came together and so the meetings could finally take place in the large hall with around 100 people!

Thus, the first Twila (baptism) of a believer was celebrated in the fall of 1996. The first official community meeting was held in the summer of 1995 and was dedicated to the holiday of Shavuot (Pentecost). This holiday became the date of the birth of the community.

To this day, the church has various services such as worship, the library, the audio service, Bible studies and prayer sessions. Evangelisms are held regularly, not only in Berlin, but also in other German cities. Since these early days, more than 2,000 people have visited our church and over 200 people have been baptized (Twila).
