Israel Exposes Terrorists within Doctors Without Borders

Israel’s Foreign Ministry has presented definitive proof that employees of the international aid organization Doctors Without Borders (operating within Gaza as “Médecins sans Frontières” or MSF) simultaneously engaged in activities for Palestinian terrorist organizations while working for Doctors Without Borders in Gaza.

First, Fadi al-Wadiya was a leading activist in Palestinian Islamic Jihad as well as a rocket expert advancing their rocket development and capabilities while maintaining his “humanitarian aid” employment as a “doctor” with Doctors Without Borders (MSF). Second, Nasser Hamdi Abdelatif al-Shalfouh fought as a Hamas sniper doing terrorist combat operations while employed by MSF. In addition, four other individuals were also members of terror organizations or involved in planning attacks.

Due to these cases and others, the Israel Foreign Ministry has emphasized that humanitarian aid must never be used as a cover for terror and that strict security vetting and transparency are essential. Licenses have been revoked for a handful of organizations, including Doctors Without Borders (MSF), who were found to contain links to Hamas:

“Israel will not allow humanitarian frameworks to be exploited for terrorism,” said Amichai Chikli, the director of Israel Ministry for Diaspora Affairs. “The message is unequivocal: humanitarian aid is welcome; terror under the guise of humanitarianism is not.”

Praise the Lord with us that Israeli intelligence uncovered the clandestine terror operations within these humanitarian organizations, especially well-known groups such as Doctors Without Borders. Pray for the truth to continue to come to light and for the safety of people on the ground who gather information. Pray also for the people of Gaza to be freed from the oppression of Hamas, Palestinian Jihad, and other terror groups who use deception, violence, and fear to manipulate circumstances and maintain control.

IDF Destroys Hamas Tunnel with Loaded Rocket Launcher Aimed at Israel

Last week, the Israel Defense Forces uncovered a Hamas terror tunnel shaft in Northern Gaza which concealed a rocket launcher loaded and ready to fire toward southern Israel.

As it posed an immediate threat to Israeli civilians—in clear violation of the ceasefire agreement—the IDF struck and destroyed both the tunnel and the rocket launcher on Saturday evening. Before the strike, IDF personnel took precautions to reduce any resulting harm to civilians in the area by using “precise munitions, aerial surveillance, and additional intelligence.”

This entire operation was conducted in accordance with the ceasefire agreement, and the IDF said it will continue to work to confront any additional immediate threats.

Thank the Lord for exposing the intelligence capability of Hamas. Pray that they will not be underestimated in the future, neither by Israel nor any other government or military, and that they will never be able to gather such information ever again. Pray for wisdom for everyone in the IDF, Shin Bet, and other anti-terror intelligence services.

New Discoveries Shed Light on 2200-Year-Old “Great Isaiah” Scroll

As the “Great Isaiah” scroll is set to be displayed in its 24-foot-long entirety this year in the Israel Museum for the first time since 1968, a Dead Sea Scrolls parchment expert believes he has found the answers to the differences between the first eight sheets and second nine sheets of parchment.

According to the new digital paleography and radiocarbon analysis, not only is this scroll the oldest nearly complete book from the Hebrew Bible, but also it might be a few decades older than scholars originally thought, placing its creation between 180 and 100 BCE.

Additionally, analysis of the number of characters of text on each page as well as the size and condition of the hides suggest that the first eight parchments and second nine parchments were compiled by scribes seeking to match their styles to each other.

“We know we have several hands, at least seven, that have added, integrated, and in general written on this scroll, over the course of at least a century,” said Dead Sea Scrolls expert Professor Marcello Fidanzio of the Università della Svizzera Italiana. “We do not have just insights into the production of this scroll, but into the way it was used, which I find incredibly fascinating, because by the way someone treats an object, you understand what the person cares about.”

Interestingly enough, the scribes appear to have been mindful of the reader as they wrote. “We here witness a unique experience of how the text was transmitted because the words in the manuscript were written in a way to ensure that the reader of the time, whose native language was Aramaic, could read the Hebrew correctly,” Fidanzio said. “This is extraordinary because, later on, the operation will involve adding notes and translations to the side, but here it is part of the text itself. . . . There are some words that, for someone who knows Hebrew and not Aramaic, could make the text ambiguous. They make sense only to Aramaic speakers.”

“We have to remember that, in antiquity, the normal mode of reading was aloud, and this manuscript has some specific characteristics to be read out loud,” he added. “The reader was invited in.”

Thank the Lord for scholars who care about the biblical texts; pray for them not only to be curious about the texts themselves but also spiritually awakened to the living God behind the words. Pray also for a spiritual hunger to grow among the people of Israel as the Great Isaiah scroll is set to be displayed this year.

Doctor’s Appointment Becomes Divine Appointment and Ministry Reunion

Although our two main hubs of Israeli ministry center in the Jerusalem and Tel Aviv areas, our ministry staff actively live and serve elsewhere around the Land—including the little-known northern town of Nahariyya. Nestled between the western edge of Upper Galilee, the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea, and the southern border of Lebanon, this charming yet forward-thinking town 110 miles from Jerusalem and 75 miles from Beirut is “home” for about 68,000 people. Since October 7, 2023, the population within and around this key site near the Lebanon border was unwillingly subjected to over two whole years of incessant rocket attacks from Hezbollah, the Houthis, and Iran. Many had to flee and evacuate their homes, while others hunkered down as best they could.

Today, despite the shakiness of the current US-brokered ceasefire, the people of Nahariyya and its surrounding villages are happy to take advantage of calm, no matter how indefinite. The past few weeks, our ministry staff saw the return of bustling activity, including along the main street where most of the banks, medical clinics, and crucial businesses are located. They were able to reconnect face-to-face once more with many folks from their congregation Or Hagalil (Light of Galilee)—as well as with not-yet-saved neighbors and friends—while running necessary errands or sitting at a street-side café. One such encounter can only be described as a “divine appointment.” Our missionary writes:

“I stopped by my medical clinic to make appointments. Walking through, I spotted Yitzhak (name changed) sitting and waiting for his appointment. What a happy surprise! Although Yitzhak came to faith at Or Hagalil a number of years ago, we hadn’t met in over five years due to the severe Covid lockdowns and the current October 7 war. His family’s village was tragically evacuated, and he had been living in the Jerusalem area for the past two years.

“While waiting for his appointment, we joyfully caught up. I was so pleased to hear that he had successfully finished his university studies, and even more importantly, that he continues to follow Yeshua and has been active in a congregation when he lived in Jerusalem. Now that he is back home with his parents in Nahariyya, I enthusiastically invited him to join us again at Or Hagalil—we would sincerely enjoy his fellowship and involvement.”

Thank the Lord for His goodness in orchestrating circumstances so our paths would “randomly” cross with Yitzhak! Thank Him for that divine opportunity to encourage him in life and faith, and to invite him into fellowship now that he is back and we are meeting in person again. Pray earnestly for us to minister effectively to those around us and share the life-changing gospel of Yeshua with many in our community so that others, like Yitzhak, may come to know Him.
