Hezbollah’s Communications Network Destroyed

Pagers (Source: Wikimedia Commons/Der Sascha)

Last week, communication devices like beepers and pagers used by Hezbollah terrorists simultaneously exploded, wounding thousands of their operatives. For fear of being GPS tracked, Hezbollah had instructed their networks to stop using cell phones a few months prior. As the story is still unfolding, some sources report Israel had manufactured these beepers through “shell businesses” in Europe and Asia months and years prior, installing small amounts of explosives. Still, other sources claim Israel carried out the sabotage simply by “playing” with the lithium batteries in the devices, which would be enough to lead to a short circuit causing the device to eventually explode. The cunning surprise attack has driven Hezbollah into chaos as communications are now non-existent and many do not trust their surroundings.

Israel has declared the return of Israel’s northern residents to their homes is now one of the primary missions of the current war. Also, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has just announced the last of Hamas’ twenty-four battalions in Rafah to be defeated, allowing for a shift in the Israel Defense Force’s (IDF) ground and air operations to focus on the northern border, after having spent almost a year fighting solely in Gaza. On par with any spy movie, this is still an unfolding story with more information rising to the surface.

Please pray for the IDF’s Intelligence and Secret Service (Mossad) as they prepare for and fight an unseen battle.

Northern Israel Prepares for Escalation in Conflict

Hezbollah launched dozens of rockets deep into Israel, targeting air force bases and intelligence centers. There have been some injuries, property damage, and fires sparked. Schools have been canceled for the children’s protection. Beaches have also been closed. Finally, all northern hospitals have canceled elective surgeries and have sent home patients who do not need further treatment. Most hospitals and clinics have been ordered to move their patients to underground or fortified locations. Many hospitals have vast fortified systems, including using underground parking lots outfitted with everything necessary for triage, surgery, newborn and childcare, and on-going treatment.

Please pray for those in the care of hospitals and clinics; may they remain safe as their care has turned to emergency mode.

Israeli Military Thwarts Top Hezbollah Commanders Threat

President Isaac Herzog (Source: Wikimedia Commons/Kobi Gideon/Government Press Office)

The Israeli Air Force executed a strategic attack in Beirut, killing top military commander, Ibrahim Aqil, the head of Hezbollah’s operations unit. The Israeli strike was to stop their gathering and plans to launch a similar “October 7-style” surprise attack in northern Israel and Galilee. President Herzog said, “all of these leaders were meeting together in order to launch the same horrific, horrendous attack that we had on October 7 by Hamas, by burning Israelis, butchering them, raping their women, abducting and taking hostage old people and young, and little babies—so this is exactly the same plan that they have been planning for years under the empire of the evil Iran. So we are fighting, actually the war for the entire Free World.”

Over the weekend, Israeli Air Forces struck dozens of Hezbollah loaded rocket launchers and other military structures. Still, Hezbollah launched over 150 rockets, drones, and cruise missiles into northern Israel, Haifa Bay area, and the Upper Galilee.

Please pray for civilians in Israel to be safe and protected. Pray also for the innocent victims in southern Lebanon as they are caught in the crossfire.

Chosen People Ministries Staff in the North Ask for Prayers

Haifa, Israel (Source: Unsplash/Levi Meir Clancy)

Many of our staff live in the north or places targeted by Hezbollah’s rockets, drones, and missiles. Over the past days and nights, many have had to quickly move to bomb shelters. They have reported they are safe and feel covered in prayer. Please continue to pray for them, their neighbors, and friends! Please pray they can be a light and witness during these challenging times. Pray they may shine the light of the Messiah Jesus to all around them. It is not easy, but we have heard their calm and peace in their voices, and we know the Lord is with them!
