About Derek and Deirdre Blumenthal

Derek and Deirdre Blumenthal are missionaries to the Jewish people serving with Chosen People Ministries in Norfolk, Virginia. Derek grew up in a secular Jewish home in New Jersey and came to faith in Jesus at the age of sixteen. As he grew in his faith, he began to sense God’s calling to ministry and eventually Jewish ministry in particular.

Derek and Deirdre have a special calling to congregational ministry. They spent seven years in leadership at a Messianic Jewish congregation in South Florida, leading worship services, equipping believers, and reaching out to Jewish people and Gentiles alike with the gospel.

Derek, Deirdre, and their three daughters now live in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. Deirdre homeschools their children (which is basically a superpower!) and leads the children’s ministry at their Messianic congregation. She previously worked on the Digital Media team for Chosen People Ministries.

Derek now serves as the Senior Rabbi at Beth Messiah Synagogue in Norfolk, Virginia. He has the special privilege of teaching Bible truth, discipling believers, supporting families, hosting special events and holiday celebrations, and helping shine the light of Messiah to the local area. He is currently working on a Master of Divinity degree at the Charles L. Feinberg Center for Messianic Jewish Studies.
