About Mike Schmaus
Mike is a missionary to the Jewish people with Chosen People Ministries in Pittsburgh, PA. Raised in a Christian family in central Pennsylvania, he felt called to pastoral ministry at age eight and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at thirteen. His faith waned in college and into his late twenties, until God radically intervened in his life, restoring him through repentance and renewing his walk by His amazing grace.
Though not Jewish, Mike developed a passion for the Jewish people over the years through his work with a Jewish family with a special needs child and various friendships. A pivotal moment came in 2012, while reading about the Jewishness of Jesus during a work trip in Japan. It was a light-bulb experience which deepened his understanding of his faith and opened his eyes to God’s unwavering faithfulness to His chosen people. It left an indelible mark on his heart to reach the Jewish people with the good news of Jesus.
Mike began volunteering with Chosen People Ministries in 2020. After earning a Master of Arts in Biblical Exposition from Liberty University in 2024, he aims to continue his studies at the Charles L. Feinberg Center for Messianic Jewish Studies. He is transitioning from his previous career into the role of associate pastor of Congregation Yeshua Ben David, focusing full-time on helping Jewish people know Jesus and strengthening believers (Jew and Gentile) in their relationship with Him. Mike is married to Laurie, and they have four children: Nathaniel, Eliana, Ian, and Gavi.
