About Roy Schwarcz
Roy Schwarcz was born and raised in New York City. His mother and her family escaped Berlin during the rise of Nazi persecution, and Roy grew up deeply connected to his Jewish heritage. At thirteen, he celebrated his Bar Mitzvah in the Orthodox tradition.
While traveling across the country as a young man, Roy met Christians whose genuine kindness reflected God’s love. They shared with him the message that Jesus (Yeshua) is the promised Messiah of Israel and helped him understand how this belief is rooted in the Jewish Scriptures. Through their prayers and compassion, Roy came to trust Yeshua as his Messiah.
Since coming to faith, Roy has served in nearly every dimension of Jewish ministry. He has served on college campuses, led home Bible studies, and planted three Messianic congregations in the Chicago area and Toronto, Ontario in Canada. He currently serves as Vice President for Fellowships and Congregations with Chosen People Ministries. Roy also leads the monthly Beth Sar Shalom outreach at Moody Church in Chicago and is involved in the launch of a new ministry in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Roy graduated from Moody Bible Institute with a diploma in Jewish Studies and earned an M.A. in Theology from the Charles L. Feinberg Center of Biola University. He was ordained through the Olive Tree Congregation, the first congregation he planted with Chosen People Ministries.
He is the author of Where Jesus Walked, a book exploring more than fifty episodes in the life of Jesus through the lens of the Jewish Scriptures. The book highlights how the Old Testament prophets foretold His life and ministry, and how the New Covenant writings reveal their fulfillment from a distinctly Jewish perspective.
Roy is married to Joanne, and together they are blessed with four daughters and eleven grandchildren.
