After leaving the army, Amos did not even feel like practicing the Jewish faith anymore …

Israel’s mandatory military service seemed routine to Amos before October 7, 2023 … but then his country and his unit were plunged into the chaos of war!

Fear, distress, anxiety, despair … His emotions ran the gamut during those desperate months before his deployment ended and he could leave behind the horrors of war. Seeking peace, he began an international trek that eventually took him to Japan.

During this time, he often pondered what it meant to be Jewish … and just because he came from an Israeli Jewish family, did this mean he had to attend the services and say the prayers? He felt no real connection to the Hebrew God … what was the point of observing Jewish traditions if they did not connect him with the divine?

He called himself “chazar b’she’ela,” meaning he is stepping away from the practice of a Jewish religious lifestyle … but then in Japan, he met David, a Chosen People Ministries worker and Messianic Jewish person. They began discussing their deep feelings about religion—and Amos gladly accepted the invitation to a Welcoming Shabbat event at the Chosen People Ministries Japan Evangelical Center.

He embraced the Shabbat meal with other Jewish people and Japanese believers, too; his heart was touched to hear a Japanese Christian pray passionately for the peace of Jerusalem. Amos wondered what it would be like to have such a personal and intimate connection to God.

David, our ministry worker, explained: the only way to communicate with the Lord in such a personal way was through a relationship with Yeshua, the Jewish Messiah.

Amos’s travels took him away the next day, but it is clear he is re-evaluating his decision to put religion on the back burner, and we are praying he will continue to discover the truth about Jesus. He and David are still in touch—and when he returns to Israel, we will connect him with a Messianic congregation there.

The seeds of Truth have been planted in dozens of nations around the world, thanks to your love and prayers for Chosen People Ministries. We appreciate how you give to help us spread the message of Messiah.
