This engaging in-person course will take you on a journey through Jewish history from biblical times to today, with a special focus on Jewish-Christian relations and how theology has shaped Christian attitudes toward Jewish people over the centuries.
What You Will Learn:
- how theological perspectives on Israel shape views of contemporary Jewish people and the State of Israel
- historical themes in Jewish-Christian relations
- how God has preserved His people through centuries of challenges
- key trends shaping modern Jewish life and culture today
What We Will Cover:
- Ancient Era (Weeks 1–2): From biblical times to the rise of rabbinic Judaism
- Medieval Era (Weeks 3–4): Jewish communities under Christian and Muslim rule, major theological influences, and persecution
- Modern Era (Weeks 5–6): The impact of the Enlightenment, Zionism, and the rise of modern antisemitism
- Contemporary Era (Weeks 7–8): The Holocaust, the birth of modern Israel, and global Jewish life today
No books or homework are required, but we will provide optional resources for those who wish to dive deeper!
