“It is Yeshua—He Has Been There All Along!”
For decades, an older Jewish man had observed Passover the way his family always had—the prayers, the Seder plate, the retelling of the Exodus. It was sacred. It was home. It was his.
But he had never seen what was waiting for him inside the matzah.
At a Chosen People Ministries Bible study focused on the Passover Seder, the leader began walking through the ancient symbols—not just as tradition, but as a picture of the Messiah. He described the matzah: unleavened, striped, pierced, broken, wrapped in linen, hidden away—and then brought back.
The second of three pieces of matzah in the matzah tosh (bag), called the afikomen, resembles how Jesus, the second person of the Trinity, died, was buried, and then rose from the dead.
As the connections unfolded, the man grew quiet. Then tears began to fall.
“I’ve been attending Passover Seders my whole life,” he said. “I can’t believe I’ve never seen it before. It’s Yeshua. He’s been there all along!”
This man found Yeshua—Jesus—woven into the very fabric of a tradition he had observed since childhood. The Messiah was hidden in plain sight, year after year, Seder after Seder.
Today, this man is walking with the Lord. He is an active, joyful part of his community. And his life is a testimony to what happens when someone is equipped with the right tools to open God’s Word with confidence and compassion.

An Underground Shelter and a Divine Appointment
The night had been relentless. Rocket attacks from the Iranian regime lit up the skies over Tel Aviv, and missile fragments had already fallen dangerously close to the apartment building where one of our staff members lives. Each impact shook the building like an earthquake. She later made her way to a nearby underground public shelter—and that is where God was already waiting.
She struck up a conversation with a family settled in next to her—a husband, wife, and their three children. As they talked, she learned that the family had just spent the past year traveling in Japan and during that time had stayed at a guesthouse run by Chosen People Ministries in Japan.
She knew that team personally.
The moment of recognition was immediate and warm—a reminder that the relationships among our missionaries around the world run deep, even when oceans separate them.
But the most remarkable part of the story belonged to Yuval*, the father.
It was in Japan, he explained, where he first heard about Jewish believers in Jesus. The way the team there explained it had stayed with him. It made sense. He was moved to learn how Jesus fulfilled the prophecies of the Hebrew Bible—something he had never considered before. And since returning to Israel, he had not been able to stop thinking about it.
“If I had lived in the time of Jesus,” Yuval said quietly, “I would have followed Him.”
Here was a Jewish man—sitting in a bomb shelter, surrounded by the sounds of war—whose heart had been opened on the other side of the world, through the faithful witness of a ministry team he would never have expected to encounter. And now, in one of the hardest moments of his life, God had placed him next to someone who could continue that conversation.
The Lord is working—even in the hardest times. Even underground. Even in the middle of the night.

Keep Praying—God is Working.
Living too far from the public shelter to make it there safely during the nighttime sirens, one of our staff members in Israel joined nearly 100 others—strangers at first—sleeping on mats on a bomb shelter floor.
It was exhausting and disorienting, but it became, in God’s hands, something else entirely.
“Friendships were made,” she shares. “Life stories were shared because we spent long hours together. There were many opportunities to share my testimony and the hope I have in Jesus.”
God was present—not despite the difficulty, but in it.
He was also present in Tamar’s* life, amid the fears of war.
About a year before the war escalated, our staff member had shared her testimony with a woman named Tamar. The conversation had stayed with Tamar—not resolved, but not forgotten either. She had sensed something in it. A kind of light she could not quite name.
Then the war came. The darkness became impossible to ignore.
And Tamar called.
“I need a break from all of the darkness,” she said. “I want to hear more about Jesus—because when we last spoke, I sensed there is light in Him.”
Today, the two of them are reading Scripture together. Tamar is asking questions. She is close—beautifully, prayerfully close—to placing her faith in Yeshua.
